Serial Killers

According to a report published in 2017 by  The New Yorker, there are some 2,000 serial killers currently at large in the United States. Researcher Thomas Hargrove an archivist and researcher is a part of the Murder Accountability Project (MAP), a non-profit that aggregates data on homicides tracks the habits and status of serial killers.

Serial murder, according to the FBI's official definition, is the "unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events." A pause in between murders is sometimes referred to as a "cooling off period".
American serial killers are 10 times more likely to be male than female and can be loosely divided into archetypes; Missionaries, Black widows, Bluebeards, Angels of death, Trollers or Trappers.

Currently, Atlanta, Chicago, and Cleveland have the largest clusters of suspicious and m.o. related, unsolved murders with 133 female victims in the Atlanta area alone.

Why are we so fascinated with such horrible crimes and details? In my mind, I think curiosity is a very real part of the Human Condition and with the advent of 24-hour crime channels more and more people are devouring the facts. It's those stories, cases, and facts that we want to share here.
